Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex (“the PCC for Sussex”) wishes to select and appoint a suitable Contractor for the Storage, Maintenance, Rental and Deployment of Temporary Hostile Vehicle Measures and Protective Security Fencing (PSF).
The Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex is acting as lead force for a Framework agreement involving all Police Forces (as defined at www.police.uk/forces) and all Government Departments, Agencies and Public Bodies (as defined at www.gov.uk/government/organisations).
The PCC for Sussex owns a stock of TATA Bi-Steel products and protective security fencing which are designed to protect crowded places, major security events and the Critical National Infrastructure against vehicle and physical attacks. This Asset is known as the National Barrier Asset (NBA) and is available to UK Police forces for valid security reasons free of charges apart from transport and deployment costs.
The PCC for Sussex is seeking an suitably qualified and innovative Contractor to store, maintain and deploy the Asset, but also to supplement the Asset, where requested with their own barriers, fencing or associated (and approved) products. Further the PCC for Sussex is seeking to maximise the use of the Asset and will be looking for the successful Contractor to identify commercial opportunities for the Asset.
