4. Description: Request For Information: Future Integrated Air and Missile Defence Silos
The Awarding Authority recognises that current and planned maritime missile launcher / silo systems carry substantial platform design and integration work, require high levels of maintenance and operator interaction, and are not optimised for remote operations in the Hybrid Navy onboard Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs).
The Authority is therefore seeking information from industry suppliers regarding developed and conceptual high-performance missile launchers / silos with low maintenance and operator interaction capable of operations onboard both crewed platforms and USVs, enabling the Hybrid Navy. The silos of interest will be capable of launching current IAMD relevant effectors (e.g. CAMM and ASTER families or similar) and be compatible with future IAMD-relevant effectors. For the purposes of this RFI the Hybrid Navy expectation is for silos to sustain ‘prepared for firing’ status for a minimum of 30 days without physical human interaction.
The Authority seeks to understand, as secondary learning, containerisation options to minimise platform integration complexity, and silo / launcher solutions which achieve high commonality (90% of components) across maritime and land domain variants.
This RFI activity is not intended to prepare industry for any specific future procurement and different industry partners may be engaged for different purposes.
