Neros launches UK subsidiary with up to £10m investment into British defence

Neros Technologies has announced the formal establishment of its United Kingdom subsidiary, Neros Technologies UK Ltd, representing a strategic commitment to the British defence industrial base.

This expansion includes a projected investment of up to £10 million over the next five years and the opening of a new headquarters in Swindon. The move is specifically designed to foster a sovereign British drone manufacturing capability, focusing on the production of autonomous First Person View (FPV) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for the UK Armed Forces and allied nations across Europe.

The decision to establish a permanent UK presence follows the company’s active involvement in Ministry of Defence (MoD) FPV trials and its role in delivering systems via the International Drone Capability Coalition. By situating its manufacturing and operational hub in Swindon, Neros intends to build upon its rapid growth since its founding in 2023, during which time it has already delivered thousands of systems to the U.S. Department of War and Ukrainian forces. For UK-based sub-contractors and specialist manufacturers, this investment signals a significant opportunity to engage with a high-growth sector focused on scaling advanced autonomous technologies and onshore production.

Central to the Neros UK value proposition is a rigorous emphasis on supply chain resilience and cybersecurity. The company’s flagship UAV, the Archer system, has been developed using a China-free supply chain, utilising only secure, allied-sourced components. The Archer platform notably achieved inclusion on the US Department of War’s Blue UAS List, a designation awarded only after an exhaustive audit of hardware and software for security vulnerabilities and foreign-sourced risks. This level of certification is increasingly critical for prime contractors and suppliers looking to meet the stringent security requirements of the MoD and NATO partners, where the Archer system is now considered a standard for strike UAVs in its class.

The strategic positioning of the Swindon headquarters further solidifies the region’s status as a central hub for the UK’s burgeoning UAV industry. This development is expected to drive local job creation and workforce development within the aerospace and defence sectors.
