Anduril UK has formalised an exclusive teaming agreement with GKN Aerospace, positioning the heritage engineering firm as a key partner for the British Army’s Project NYX and the wider Ministry of Defence Land Autonomous Collaborative Platform programme.

This collaboration designates GKN Aerospace as the primary airframe manufacturing and electrical integration partner for Anduril UK’s land-based autonomous systems, with a focus on leveraging GKN’s established facility on the Isle of Wight. The partnership is a significant step in Anduril’s strategy to embed itself within the UK’s sovereign industrial base and expand its domestic supply chain.

The agreement solidifies the production pathway for Anduril’s offering for Project NYX and signals long-term industrial opportunities. GKN Aerospace, which employs nearly 1,000 people at its Cowes site, will provide its extensive experience in airframe production and systems integration. This arrangement is expected to act as a catalyst for growth at the facility, potentially leading to new job creation focused on the emerging autonomous systems market. For the UK supply chain, the partnership establishes a clear manufacturing lead, creating opportunities for tier-two and tier-three suppliers specialising in aerospace-grade components, composites, and electronic subsystems.

This latest agreement is part of a broader industrial strategy by Anduril UK, which has already engaged with over 100 domestic suppliers. The company’s existing UK supply chain, which is estimated to support approximately 50,000 jobs, includes specialist firms such as Atom Performance Technologies, Flarebright, Olsen Actuators, and Isembard. The integration of GKN Aerospace into this network strengthens the team’s manufacturing credentials and UK-based content. The collaboration is further enhanced by the inclusion of Archer Aviation, which will contribute expertise in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and hybrid propulsion systems to meet the British Army’s operational requirements.

With Anduril UK acting as the lead systems integrator, the team structure combines GKN’s established manufacturing prowess with advanced technology from both Anduril and its partners. This strategic alignment is designed to deliver a sovereign capability for the UK Armed Forces, ensuring that advanced autonomous platforms can be developed and produced domestically. The partnership directly supports the objectives of the UK’s Defence Industrial Strategy by directing investment into the national industrial base, fostering innovation, and securing high-skilled manufacturing jobs.
