The work includes:
Furnishing a desktop study, supported by a numerical model study based on available survey data to establish high level maritime environmental conditions and principal drivers of coastal morphology within the authority limits. This is in accordance with the highest standards of the engineering profession and the applicable standards of authority.
Preparation of current baseline hydrodynamic and morphological mapping is supported by analysis of satellite imagery within the authority limits based on evaluation of an appropriate epoch considering the coastal sediment regime.
Development of high level scenarios considering planned or proposed port and maritime development, and assessment of the potential hydrodynamic and morphological impacts.
Preparation and evaluation of conceptual design options for coastal mitigation strategies to facilitate ongoing port and maritime development within the authority limits including: dredging; dredged material disposal; breakwaters; and shore protection or training works.
Undertaking an Initial Environmental Evaluation of concept design options for coastal mitigation strategies.
Preparation of Basis of Design, including review of navigation requirements, for potential channel deepening and refurbishment/ extension of training walls and breakwaters at the entrance to and along the Karnaphuli River.
Specifying and undertaking bathymetric and hydrographic surveys and geotechnical investigations at the entrance to and along the Karnaphuli River.
Furnishing concept design options, supported by detailed numerical modelling including cyclones, for channel deepening and refurbishment/ extension of training walls and breakwaters at the entrance to and along the Karnaphuli River. This is in accordance with the highest standards of the engineering profession and the applicable standards of the authorities.
Providing validation of concept design options using realtime navigation simulation and 3D physical hydraulic modelling of breakwaters.
Furnishing authorities design and the feasibility of preferred options for development of the Karnaphuli River navigation channel all in accordance with the highest standards of the engineering profession and the applicable standards of the authority.
Undertaking a desktop study of the various studies that have been undertaken on a project basis for port and maritime projects within or in the coastal zone associated with, and setting out the minimum port functional requirements for the Kutubdia Channel.
Specifying and undertaking bathymetric and hydrographic surveys along the Kutubdia Channel. m. Furnishing a detailed numerical model study to evaluate the long term morphological change in the Kutubdia Channel.
Development of a works plan including but not limited to dredging and training works to mitigate potential hydrodynamic and morphological impacts includes the Kutubdia Channel.
Development of port master planning options for the Kutubdia Channel includes mitigation of capital and operational costs related to harbour infrastructure and dredging works.
