Serco are the latest Prime Contractor to confirm their involvement at Defence Procurement, Research, Technology and Exportability (DPRTE) 2020, taking place at Farnborough International Exhibition Centre on 3 September.

Joining Serco as Prime Contractor Partners will be Airbus; QinetiQ; Lockheed Martin; GE Aviation; Babcock; Commerce Decisions; and Raytheon.

The Prime Contractor and Supply Chain Engagement Zone will bring together many of the key Prime Contractors currently engaged within the delivery of MOD projects, allowing visitors to book appointments for 1-2-1 meetings.  Please note appointments are booked on a first come first served basis and are limited to one appointment per delegate.

In 2017/18, the Ministry of Defence managed approximately £20.9 billion of third-party procurement spend. The size and complexity of many projects requires the Department to work closely with key industry partners to ensure delivery of the defence programme, with over half of the annual spend flowing through 19 Strategic Suppliers.

The MOD spends approximately £835 million per annum directly with SMEs, but the majority of opportunities lie within the supply chain.

The use of competition is encouraged wherever appropriate both within direct contract opportunities and throughout the supply chain. Opportunities, therefore, exist for suppliers of all sizes, from large established defence contractors through to innovative smaller businesses.

The Supply Chain Zone will also feature a range of speakers delivering sessions that will provide key insight into the opportunities available within the defence marketplace.

Scott Zonfrillo, Senior Business Development Manager from Defence Contracts International (DCI) will speak about how the DCI platform can help businesses access defence supply chain opportunities.

Martin Lee, Programme Procurement Manager at Airbus Defence and Space will talk about emerging Opportunities in the UK Space Supply Chain. He will be followed by Tom O’Byrne, Head of Supply Chain Development at QinetiQ, who will discuss delivering value through collaboration.

Jim Carter, Commercial Director, Supply Chain, MOD, will talk about supplying the MOD. Andy Abu Bakar, Head of Risk Services at Costain will look at the subject of reducing your risk exposure: the impact of commercial models in the supply chain.

Nigel Strutt, UK Director, Supply Chain Policy, Governance and Operations at Lockheed Martin, will offer insight into doing business with Lockheed Martin. Similarly, Jon White from GE Aviation will look at supply chain opportunities with GE Aviation. While Finally, Freddie Roe from Astute Electronics will deliver a session on the evolution of the supply chain.
