The US Air Force alongside military personnel from across Asia has completed a number of humanitarian exercises in Bangladesh.

For Pacific Angel, around 50 US Air Force personnel teamed up with troops from Nepal, Thailand, and Sri Lanka to conduct humanitarian exercises in Bangladesh. The operation mainly focused on medical care and engineering support as well as communication of skills with the Bangladeshi Air Force.

Medical care provided included dental and optometry work and other general healthcare. Bangladeshi translators assisted US personnel in clinics to ensure the needs of patients were properly understood.

U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Mark Crosby, Oregon Air National Guard assistant adjutant general and State Partnership Program director said: “Pacific Air Forces is honored to be a part of this important effort during Pacific Angel’s 12th year. Pacific Angel events are a tangible expression of the United States’ commitment to South Asia and the U.S. Indo Pacific Command’s region and demonstrate our continuing resolve to support international disaster and humanitarian relief efforts in this region. This is a lasting demonstration of our commitment to the great people of Bangladesh and towards enhancing our bilateral relations with the proud men and women of the Bangladesh Air Force.”

Bangladesh is teamed with Oregon as part of the US DOD’s State Partnership Program, to encourage communication and partnership between militaries. Operation Pacific Angel has been running for 12 years with the focus on healthcare and disaster relief.

The Bangladeshi Government chose a high school within the Lalmonirhat community as a base for operations. The school and other local schools received updates to structure and building work from US engineers.
