Birmingham Airport has published its final masterplan and surface access strategy following a 12-week consultation.The documents outline how the airport will develop its site and cope with an increase in passenger numbers up to the year 2033.Plans include a £500m investment that will transform the terminal and create jobs for 34,000 people. It is also expected to generate in excess of £2bn for the region.More than three quarters of respondents to the consultation supported the airport’s plans to make use of its existing runway, while 70 per cent agreed it should safeguard land for the future.
