The annual Defence Academy Conference will focus on modern deterrence and will be hosted by the DSTL.

The conference will take place on 22-23 May this year and focus on how deterrence efforts are affected by modern communications and connections. The theme of the conference is Putting Modern Defence Into Practice.

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) will host the conference along with the Deterrence and Assurance Academic Alliance (DAAA), and King’s College London. It will also be convened by the Defence Academy’s Centre for Defence Educational Research (CDERA), further details of the event will be available to parties who register to attend.

Nicholas Taylor from DSTL said: “I very much hope many people will able to join us for what will be an engaging and interactive conference, bringing together those at the cutting-edge of deterrence theory and practice.”

Attendees and delegates will explore how deterrence has been affected by the 21st century, particularly how to apply it across multiple groups such as different states. It will also explore communication, deterrence and alliance cohesion, escalation, and simplifying processes in a more interconnected and complicated world.

The event will feature theorists and experts and include interactive sessions to encourage interaction between attendees from different fields. The Defence Academy of the United Kingdom has released programme information, ticket prices, and other details on their website.
