The new scheme will help veterans with appropriate skills to find work in the automotive industry.

Backed by the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Foundation, the initiative will help veterans find jobs in all parts of the automotive industry including engineering, manufacture, infrastructure, and logistics. ‘Mission Automotive’ was launched at the Royal Hospital Chelsea and will be delivered by a partnership between Mission Motorsport, Jaguar Land Rover, DHL, Westway Nissan, and Alcon and Bicester Heritage.

Mission Motorsport has helped nearly 2000 veterans find work in different industries based on their qualifications and skills. The scheme is tied to the Armed Forces Covenant, a promise that all those have served in the military, as well as those still serving, shall be treated fairly.

Minister of Defence People and Veterans Tobias Elwood said: “A career in the armed forces sets our people up with skills that last a lifetime, with their team work, courage and self-discipline making them an asset to any employer.”

“Under the Armed Forces Covenant, we all have a duty to support military personnel, both while they are serving and beyond, and I applaud Mission Automotive for their commitment to championing our people as they take the next step in their professional lives.”

Around 3,000 businesses have signed up to the Armed Forces covenant, signifying their commitment to supporting the careers of servicemen and women as well as veterans. Partners in Mission Automotive hope that it will help create a more skilled workforce that will play a bigger role in the industry.
