Lockheed Martin has won a $44.1M contract on behalf of the U.S. Air Force to manufacture Intelligent Test Instrumentation Kits (iTIK).

The enhanced iTIK will be employed on Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile (JASSM) flight tests for telemetry and flight termination use. Crucially, the award win will help to drive a wide variety of benefits across a raft of U.S. missile programmes.

The upgraded iTIK has eliminated obsolete parts from previous generation test kits, meaning they can be applied to different missiles. The new and improved kits are also compatible with all production lots of JASSM already in stock, in addition to future lots and variants.

“The new iTIK provides a next generation telemetry kit for both JASSM baseline and Extended Range missiles, as well as the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile,” said Kim Oyler, Programme Manager at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.

“The electronic components in this new kit will provide enhanced reliability over the previous generation’s mechanical configuration.”

Armed with a penetrating blast fragmentation warhead, JASSM-Extended Range can be deployed in all weather conditions.

The stealthy 2,000 pound cruise missile employs an infrared seeker and enhanced digital anti-jam GPS receiver which is able to dial into specific points on high-value, well-fortified, fixed and relocatable targets.
