Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Following a review of operational policing services and the development of a new Operational Policing Model (OPM), North Yorkshire Police Service are keen to source a solution and work with a supplier who is capable of providing a Mobile Asset Utilisation and Deployment System(MAUDS) infrastructure and work with the service to embed a range of functionality that will support the OPM. The service employs approx 1 390 police officers and 1 000 police staff, including 180 PCSOs, and like most other public sector organisations is working hard to deliver continued levels of service against a back drop of reducing funding. This has required the service to look at all areas of the organisation and modify how we do things, utilising technology to its best possible advantage. This is an on-going process and the upgrading of the MAUDS system is a key element of this. Alongside the police officer and staff numbers the service currently has 502 vehicles. The majority of NYP’s fleet would be within the scope of the MAUDS project. However, there must exist the ability to turn officer and vehicle tracking off, when these are engaged in some operational situations.
