CROWSNEST is the MOD procurement programme for the system replacement for the Sea King ASAC Mk7. The aim of the CROWSNEST solution is to sustain the Royal Navy’s Airborne Surveillance and Control (ASaC) capability beyond 2030. The CROWSNEST technical solution chosen to proceed towards Main Gate is the AgustaWestlands/Thales design which incorporates the existing Sea King ASaC Mk 7 SearchWater 2000 radar system. CROWSNEST will be delivered as role fit mission equipment integrated into the Merlin HM MK2 and is designed to support both current and future fleet capabilities including the Queen Elizabeth (QE) aircraft carriers, TYPE 45 and Royal Fleet Auxiliaries that currently support the Merlin HM Mk2.
