Section II: Contract Details
2.1 Title: Rewiring – Redburn School, Cumbernauld
2.2 Description of the goods or services required: Redburn School consists of pupils who have a wide range of abilities and needs. The Contractor will be expected to take into consideration the pupils & teachers’ needs and the schools day to day procedures when planning out work activities within the School.The Contractor shall visit the School during the tender period to assess all necessary downtakings.The contract will involve the strip out and replacement of the School’s electrical installation as identified on the electrical installation drawings, including the replacement of switchboards, switchgear, distribution boards, luminaires, socket outlets, power supplies, existing period bell system and fire alarm system, lighting and emergency lighting.All existing photovoltaics, staff alarms, intruder alarms, door access, data, telecommunications installations, roller shutters, panic alarms, pool plant, boilerplant and controls wiring will be retained. The existing distribution boards within the pool plant room, boiler plant room and store 015 will be retained. Refer to drawings for further information.Prior to any work commencing the Contractor will provide Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS) and take full cognisance of the existing asbestos register and drawings and include into their RAMS as required. All asbestos removals will be carried out by NLC.The electrical Contractor will be responsible for all builders works and down takings. Ceilings within the reception area, sensory room, classroom 063, swimming pool, toilets and changing areas are to be retained. The Contractor will allow for the ceiling tiles to be taken down and stored in a safe place during works and will reinstate on completion of works. Any ceiling tiles damaged during this process will be replaced by the Contractor accordingly and the replacement tiles will be of same Manufacturer and type as the existing ceiling tiles to be replaced.All existing luminaires not being retained will be taken down with duty of care and handed back to the Client.All works will be implemented under an agreed phased programme of works. The Contractor shall allow for all necessary out of hours working required foraccommodating the proposed phased programme of works within their tender submission. It is envisaged at this stage that all main containment routes, power shutdowns and wiring within main corridor and open plan areas will be required to be carried out, out with normal working hours.No additional claims for works associated with phasing of works will be entertained under this contract.
