Pinpoint is also an agent for Farsounder, a forward looking 3D sonar used for navigation and obstacle avoidance while the ship is underway, especially for situations such as avoiding shipping containers, exploring remote areas, navigating in poorly charted areas, and to navigate through coral shoreline or polar regions.
The Farsounder can be integrated into the bridge system providing an overlay onto the ECDIS, similar to a RADAR overlay, which correlates real time to chart data. it also can provide diver and underwater threat detection and shipboard or port and harbour security.
