4. Description: Marketing services. Fishermen in European marine fisheries require easy access to information on how to change their fishing nets to avoid catching unwanted fish, which are thrown back into the sea (discard), often dead, to help them successfully move to discard free fisheries.
Cefas is seeking to commission a communications specialist for 21 months from January 2017 to October 2018 to present information on fishing gear technology developments in a user-friendly and helpful format and disseminate it effectively to those who can use it. This is of particular importance currently because of a demand to assist fishermen to implement the discard ban under the reformed EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).
