McMurdo, the emergency readiness and response specialist, has been awarded a contract by the US Army to provide working prototypes of a custom personnel recovery device (PRD). As a militarised personal locator beacon, the PRD will be a component of the Army’s Personnel Recovery Support System (PRSS), to alert and notify if a soldier has become isolated, missing, detained or captured.
