Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) formally submitted a planning application this month that details plans to rebuild the current Newark Fire Station. If the application is approved and permission is granted, the proposals will see the existing station demolished and replaced with a new building that is both modern and fit for the future. It is hoped that contractors will be able to start work on the new station, which will include a brand new gym and training tower, somewhere between March and April 2017.The new building should then be complete and home to Newark’s wholetime and retained staff by Summer 2018.As well as featuring a new gym and training tower, the plans for the new station also include a number of other facilities such as desk space, kitchen and purpose build breathing apparatus and kit rooms.Managing the project is Turner & Townsend Project Management Limited – who have most recently worked on the Service’s new London Road Fire Station.
