Description: The Awarding Authority are procuring the provision of contracted services regarding Portal Official Veterinary Surgeons (OVS’s) to undertake veterinary checks on products of animal origin, which may include fishery products on occasions, at a Border Control Post (BCP) to protect animal and public health.
Manchester Airport is an approved border control post designated by Article 59 of Regulation (EU) 2017/625 for performing official controls on imports of products of animal origin into the United Kingdom from third countries. Animal products are received for both human consumption and non-human consumption. The airport operates on a 24-hour basis every day of the year. The BCP has standard office hours of 9am to 6pm but work can be undertaken after 6pm or on weekends or bank holidays. The BCP is designated as a low throughput BCP. Importers and airlines are required to notify us before the consignment lands.
