The Contractor shall be expected to adhere by the His Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) site security requirements, all Contractors and Sub-Contractors shall be BPSS security vetted and will be required to hold the relevant site security passes.
The Contractor shall be expected to hold the following levels of insurance £10m Public Liability, £10m Product Liability, £5m Professional Indemnity.

Project Background
KBS Maritime have a requirement for a new lock entrance gate to D Lock West at HMNB Portsmouth. A new sliding/rolling caisson is to be designed and built off site, transported to site and installed/commissioned, the complete hauling system and camber road deck cover shall also be replaced.
The camber is to have any silt present removed and disposed of. Civil works to the existing hard sealing faces and potentially the camber and hauling pit, are also required to ensure minimal leakage through the caisson and to assure structural integrity. The caisson is to be built to the standard set out in Rules and Regulations for the Construction and Classification of Floating Docks and Dock Gates, the MOD Code for Steel Caissons, and the Design Manual for Road and Bridges. The tenderer shall be able to demonstrate experience of building caissons to these standards. The new caisson system shall be required to operate as rapid opening/closure gate for the tidal entrance to a transit lock, a dry-dock dam, and as a pedestrian/vehicular road-bridge.
The existing sliding caisson is to be removed and disposed of, along with the hauling gear and road deck. Budget: circa £5m-£8m
