The presence of Royal Air Force Typhoons on Exercise Pitch Black has generated a great deal of interest.Among those to visit 6 Squadron have been members of the India Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force Cadets who both tool the opportunity to visit the Royal Air Force detachment and see a Typhoon FGR4 up close. The Indian Air Force are among 17 nations participating in the major exercise and have deployed four Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jets to Australia.A group of 60 cadets from the local Royal Australian Air Force Cadets Squadron were also shown around a jet by RAF pilots and engineers. The cadets always love seeing Air Force aircraft and with Pitch Black being and all the different countries being here it’s fantastic for them to see something they don’t normally get to see. We’re very grateful, and it’s certainly fantastic for the cadets. I was more than happy to write our training programme off for the night for them to have this experience.Members of the public were also able to meet RAF aviators at an Open Day at Royal Australian Air Force Darwin and see both Typhoon and Voyager aircraft.
