RC Fornax, the UK-based engineering consultancy, has announced its strongest financial quarter to date, with total orders for the first three months of its 2026 financial year reaching approximately £2.5 million.

This figure represents a year-on-year increase of over 70 per cent. The growth has been driven by securing £2.2 million in new work during the period, a more than 180 per cent increase in new orders compared to the same period in the previous year. The company attributes this significant uplift in customer engagement to the Strategic Defence Review and a series of operational improvements implemented over the past five months.

A key contributor to this performance is a new contract award from a UK public sector space client, secured following a competitive tender process. The initial contract is valued at approximately £370,000 over a six-month period and marks the company’s first major success on a UK public sector framework. Under the terms of the agreement, RC Fornax will act as the lead contractor and integrator, heading a consortium of four specialist UK and European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and academic partners. This role reinforces the company’s stated position as an SME integrator within the defence and public sector supply chains, capable of combining niche capabilities into a single solution.

A significant aspect of the contract is that RC Fornax will retain full ownership of all Intellectual Property (IP) developed during the project. This provides the company with long-term strategic value through the potential for future commercialisation, licensing, or expansion of the technology beyond the initial scope of the engagement. The framework structure of the award also presents clear opportunities for follow-on work and recurring revenue streams, strengthening the company’s positioning for participation in future public sector procurement activity.

This recent success is expected to enhance RC Fornax’s reputation across the UK defence and adjacent space sectors. The company is currently onboarded to seven procurement frameworks and, following a recent fundraise, is preparing to accelerate the development of its proprietary sourcing and delivery platforms, Procure X and Smart Suite. The expanding order base and recurring contract extensions provide the company with increasing revenue visibility for the remainder of the financial year.

Two repurposed marine vessel targets have been successfully delivered and installed at Holbeach Air Weapons Range (AWR) in Lincolnshire, enhancing live weapons training capability for both fixed wing and rotary wing air platforms. The project, delivered through a joint effort between the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), Landmarc and marine and construction specialists Topbond PLC, involved transporting the steel vessels from the River Crouch in Essex along the coastline to Holbeach, with specialist tug support provided from the Netherlands. The targets have been adapted specifically for military use and will support a diverse range of aircraft conducting live and inert weapons training, including pre-deployment preparation. Part of a Wider Training Estate Investment Programme The Holbeach installation sits within a broader DIO-led programme of training estate improvements across the UK. Brigadier Gavin Hatcher, DIO's Head of the UK Training Estate, pointed to parallel investments including new urban skills houses at Catterick and Larkhill, and training area improvements in Thetford, as evidence of sustained commitment to ensuring Defence can
