Denys Demko, the Economic Secretary at the Embassy of Ukraine in the United Kingdom, has been confirmed as a key panel speaker at the upcoming Defence Procurement, Research, Technology & Exportability (DPRTE) event. He will join day two of the event on a panel titled, ‘From Conflict to Capability: Lessons from Ukraine for UK Defence and Industry’, providing insight into the country’s defence-industrial requirements and opportunities for international collaboration.

Mr. Demko’s participation offers a significant opportunity for UK defence suppliers to engage with a senior Ukrainian official whose portfolio is directly focused on fostering defence-tech cooperation, innovation, and strategic partnerships. His role is central to advancing Ukraine’s security interests through economic and diplomatic channels within the UK.

Mr. Demko brings extensive experience from various Ukrainian governmental institutions, both domestically and internationally. His career includes diplomatic postings in the Netherlands, providing him with a broad global perspective on fostering international alliances. Critically for the UK defence sector, he has served as an advisor to the Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine, where he contributed to national policy on security, technology, and strategic development. This background gives him a comprehensive understanding of Ukraine’s high-level defence and technology priorities. In addition to his primary diplomatic duties, he is also a Member of the Committee on Electronic Communications at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, further bridging the gap between national security and industrial capability.

At DPRTE, Mr. Demko is expected to articulate Ukraine’s current defence needs and its long-term vision for rebuilding and modernising its defence-industrial base through international partnerships. His expertise in leveraging diplomacy and technology to support his country’s strategic objectives will provide invaluable context for UK firms seeking to contribute to Ukraine’s resilience and future security architecture. His presence underscores the importance of the UK-Ukraine relationship and signals a clear intent to deepen cooperation between the respective defence supply chains. Businesses attending the event will have a direct opportunity to understand the procurement and innovation landscape from a key Ukrainian government representative.
