4. Description: Purpose: The purpose of this Market information exchange is to further understand the current market, its competitiveness, key players and to take that information into account when considering future procurement.
Requirement: The Authority seeks to develop its understanding of market capability and interest in providing a Live, adversary Surface-to-Air Integrated Air Defence System (IADS) to the Royal Air Force (RAF). Currently supported by the Aggressor Squadron at RAF Spadeadam, this new capability shall be Electronic Warfare (EW) centric and provide a mobile, relocatable & dynamic EW capability to the Combat Air Force (CAF), other Defence Force Elements (FEs) as well as Allied and International Partners.
To ensure that FEs can operate and provide assurance activities in contested and competitive operational theatres, the deployed element of the capability will replicate a contemporary & relevant adversary IADS, recreating the modern threat landscape Users may encounter in any of today’s operational environments. Made up of Emulators, Simulators & Stimulators, the system shall look to deliver the following capabilities:
Very Short-Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) Threat Emitters.
Short Range Air Defence (SHORAD) Threat Emitters.
Medium Range (RF) Threat Emitters.
Long Range (RF) Threat Emitters.
Ultraviolet (UV)/Infrared (IR) Threats.
Electronic Countermeasures (ECM).
In addition to traditional RF emitters, modern combat aircraft also utilise the aggregation of information from Non-Traditional RF Sensors, the capability will recreate this through the use of:
Physical Surrogates with additional Rotator Effects.
Furthermore, the capability will be underpinned & unified using a modern:
Command, Control and Communications (C3) suite.
