About the work
Why the work is being done: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is running an ICT Programme that will deliver a highly secure and improved information environment providing integrated access to the breadth of information as and when required by the Mod Customer.
The MoD is looking to move their highly secure ICT systems to a multi-supplier service model which can enable the rationalisation of the 100+ systems in existence. In addition, Enterprise services will be developed that can support non-rationalised systems.
As part of the rationalisation, the design authority function for the services has been taken in-house from the current incumbent .
Outcomes Team Requirement:
The design team is layered:
1. Enterprise Architecture;
2. Service Architecture;
3. Solution Architect.
Five functional areas have been identified that span each layer:
Infrastructure and Networks;
Applications and Data;
Service Process;
Security; and
Engineering Process.
Enterprise Level Roles
1. Enterprise Service Architect;
2. Enterprise Infrastructure Architect.
The team is a SAFe agile team delivering Platform Services, Managed Applications, Enterprise Content Management, Boundary Services; Workplace Services, Network Services and Operational Service Management.
Problem to be solved : MoD must provide a highly secure and improved information environment providing integrated access to the breadth of information required by the MoD Customer.
Each Team Resource, in relation to their functional area shall:
1. Chair workshops with the Customer Authority’s supplier to ensure ROADs are produced and stored;
2. Work with the Customer Authority’s supplier to identify and make any changes required to the High Level Designs, support the review, generation and acceptance of key documentation sets required for the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) such as Options Assessments, Solutions Outlines; Preliminary Solution Designs, Solutions Roadmaps;
3. Document any changes to the High Level Solution Design that may impact other deliveries within the programme;
4. At the end of each programme increment, review the High Level Design to enable its issue to the Customer Authority;
5. Support for the rollout of new services and supporting the sustainment and decommissioning of legacy services;
6. Provide guidance to projects and produce EA infrastructure and network design artefacts such as roadmaps, epics, solution outlines, aligned to wider EA policies and guidance and also develop specific documents as directed (e.g. preparation and adoption of cloud services)Who the users are and what they need to do: The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is running an ICT Programme that will deliver a highly secure and improved information environment providing integrated access to the breadth of information as and when required by the Mod Customer.

Working arrangements : On the designated site 5 days per week. Primarily in Hampshire with occasional work at Corsham (Wilts) or other Customer Authority facilities.
