A defence authority has issued a tender for 166 life preservers.
The life preservers should have:
an air cylinder made of dual bag synthetic cloth and fitted with compressed air bottle (with a capacity 0.35 to 0.45 litres (approx), working presser 232 bar)
a breathing bag made of dual bag synthetic cloth. The outer bag should be extremely flexible and material has to be proven in test five times more than abrasion resistant and three times more puncture resistant than nylon (Polyamide) fabrics.
an inner bag to provide the air holding capability and maximum buoyancy of (17 to 23) (25 to 30) kg
a low pressure hose that is approximately 80 cm/31.5 inches long, it should be supplied with medium/intermediate pressure of less than 400 psi (28 bar)
be fitted with manual and automatic pressure relief valve. For manual operation, it is actuated by pulling the knob straight down to open spring loaded valve and thus allowing air to escape from the life preserver
it should have an emergency breathing inflation valves , to allow the diver to breathe air from the life preserver by simply inhaling and exhaling
a drain valve to allow for easy washing of the inner bag, through a drain valve
a harness and rescuer harness, that is constructed of strong webbing with quick release buckles and has sufficient length to fit with diver attached
a cylinder valve has to be attached to the jacket mounted cylinder post
an inflatable device (similar to life jacket) used for controlling divers buoyancy and emergency suftfacing
a compressed air bottle and manual (oral and low pressure) inflation device
a securing harness whistle made of neoprene coated nylon, water activated indication lamp, rescue harness, relief valve, breathing and inflating hose and drain vale
They are wanted to control divers buoyancy and for emergency surfacing at any depth, it should also be able to be used as a life jacket.
