Discussions are underway with an international hotel operator to open a new venue in Stoke in a move that will create 50 jobs.Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s cabinet has agreed to finalise deal terms with the “major” company, whose identity is undisclosed due to commercial sensitivities.The hotel will be located in Stoke’s Smithfield and will be constructed by the authority’s development partner Genr8 Developments.The scheme has also been earmarked for grant funding from the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SSLEP).The news comes after Severn Trent Water and United Utilities’ Water Plus joint venture announced Smithfield as its headquarters, creating 400 jobs.
