Approval has been granted by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) for the appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the construction of 26 houses and new village hall in Syresham, at a meeting of the Development Control Committee on Thursday, 25 August 2016.The site of the development, on the edge of Syresham village, is made up of uncultivated agricultural land as well as the existing village hall and car park, dating from the Second World War and originally used by the RAF.Previously, planning permission had been granted in May 2015 for the outline planning application for 26 houses and village hall, subject to the inclusion of 15 per cent affordable housing and financial contributions towards education, healthcare, fire and rescue, libraries, refuse and recycling, recreation facilities as well as to the construction of the new village hall.The replacement village hall will provide improved local facilities and features natural stone, with a large car park and pedestrian link to the village, new development and Sports and Social club.Of the 26 houses, 22 will be accessed from a newly adopted road onto the High Street in the vicinity of the existing village hall. The remaining four houses will have separate shared private access onto the High Street, with each house having a minimum of two off street parking spaces.Four of the 26 houses are allocated as semi-detached two bed affordable housing, with the remainder comprising 11 three bed, nine four bed and two five bed houses, totalling 10 semi-detached and 16 detached properties.All of the houses will be a mix of natural stone, brick and slate tiled roofs, designed to enhance the distinctive architectural quality of Syresham, providing high quality traditional market as well as affordable housing.
