The UK MOD’s SKYNET Programme: Defence Connected Globally SKYNET is the MOD’s satellite communications capability which provides sovereign, strategic, high-quality and assured communication services to the Armed Forces and allies. It is a critical part of the UK Defence infrastructure enabling our personnel to communicate globally whether they are on land, sea or in the air. The SKYNET 6 Programme is exploiting technological advances to deliver the next generation of military communication satellites to MOD, together with the equipment and services needed to monitor, protect, control and exploit them. Keeping our Armed Forces reliably connected amidst a volatile threat landscape is vital to British security.
