BRITISH DRONE WILL BE EQUIPPED WITH A DEADLY ADVANCED MISSILE

Description

The UK Royal Navy is integrating Martlet missiles onto Peregrine drones, transforming them into attack-capable platforms. This will make the UK the first European navy to deploy ship-based drones capable of gathering intelligence and engaging targets, potentially transforming naval drone doctrine. Developed by Thales UK and Schiebel, Peregrine has successfully completed factory acceptance trials and is designed for interoperability with existing naval systems. The integration of the Martlet missile is part of the broader Peregrine program, which includes trials for mine warfare and other maritime applications. The drone’s flexibility allows for potential reconfiguration for logistics roles if needed, demonstrating its adaptability. The UK is accelerating drone development plans to bolster its carrier air fleet, with Peregrine a key part of this initiative. Peregrine’s ability to operate from the deck of a ship and survive harsh maritime conditions, combined with its advanced sensor capabilities, makes it a valuable asset for the Royal Navy. The drone’s integration with the Royal Navy’s combat management system enhances its interoperability and effectiveness.
