Plans for a development of more than 200 homes on the site of a former Cwmbran school are set to be given the green light.Barratt Homes (South Wales), via agent WYG Planning and Environment, lodged plans with Torfaen County Borough Council for the Llantarnam Comprehensive School site. The school closed its doors in September 2015 after it was deemed surplus to the council’s needs. The existing buildings on the 17-acre site will be demolished to make way for 225 homes. A mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties is proposed together with a three-storey apartment block. The application will be considered by the council’s planning committee and councillors have been recommended to grant consent by a report prepared ahead of the meeting. This is subject to a section 106 agreement that would secure 30 per cent affordable housing provision and financial contribution towards recreation and education.
