Contractor GF Tomlinson has officially broken ground on its £16m contract to the University of Nottingham’s Advanced Manufacturing Building.The 9,011 m2 training and research facility is being built on a former brownfield site located within the university’s Jubilee Campus. Scheduled construction period is 16 months.GF Tomlinson secured the contract in June, but the formal groundbreaking ceremony did not take place until yesterday, 10th November.The new building will be an expansion of the university’s Faculty of Engineering, creating teaching spaces, laboratories, workshops and offices for research activities, including nano-scale production, robotics and large-scale aerospace demonstrator components.The project team includes Turner & Townsend as project manager, architect Bond Bryan, engineer Arup and cost manager Currie & Brown (previously Sweett).
