Proposals for a third major office development at Birmingham’s Arena Central are set to go before planners (10 November 2016), with approval resting on the finalisation of a funding agreement.Three Arena Central is the third phase of the significant city centre scheme and follows the approval of 1 and 2 Arena Central, the latter of which will be home to HSBC’s ring-fenced bank headquarters on completion next year. The latest building will rise to 14 storeys and will provide 302,810 sq ft of office space, as well as room for retail on the ground floor. The development will also create a central plaza known as Bank Court, as well as a terrace and a 384-space basement car park. The application was lodged by Arena Central Developments Ltd (ACDL), the company behind the redevelopment of the site within Birmingham’s city centre enterprise zone. The designs were first unveiled at property festival MIPIM in March and were submitted to Birmingham City Council in September.
