A Bournemouth hotel which was damaged in a fire earlier this year is set to be demolished to make way for a new mixed-use scheme under newly-submitted plans.London-based developer Fresh Lime Developments has lodged plans with Bournemouth Borough Council to redevelop the Belvedere Hotel site on Bath Road.The hotel was damaged in a fire in a fire in June 2016. It featured 102 en-suite rooms, leisure centre and conferencing facilities but has been derelict for a number of years.Under the new proposals, the existing building on the site would be demolished to make way for a development, including a 131-bedroom hotel and 66 residential units. A total of 82 car parking spaces would also be provided.The new 11-storey hotel has been designed to be a landmark in the town and will feature a cafe, restaurant, conference rooms, pool and spa, fitness facilities and a roof-top ‘sky-bar’.It has been reduced from an initial 14-storey concept following discussions with the council.The development has been designed by 5plus Architects and Terence O’Rourke is the planning company advising the applicant.The architects’ practice has previously worked with Fresh Lime Developments on a number of schemes in the UK and overseas.
