Plans have been submitted for a 209-bedroom student accommodation scheme close to Leeds city centre by development company S Harrison. The new project would replace a predominantly vacant, existing office building on Blenheim Walk, which sits between Leeds College of Art and Leeds Student Medical Practice. If approved, the project’s 209 en-suite bedrooms would be spread across 32 cluster apartments that will all have shared kitchen, living and dining spaces. It would also offer a range of communal facilities including a reception area, study rooms, games area and common room. In addition, externally there would be a large, green courtyard area and cycle parking. f the planning application is successful, work could start early next year and complete in time for the start of the 2018/19 academic year. S Harrison has experience providing student accommodation schemes after completing three developments in its hometown of York in recent years, totalling 762 beds. The developer has also started work on a 115-room site in York and obtained planning consent for a 106-bedroom scheme in the Walmgate Conservation area of York last month.
