Description: The Beach Landing Facility (BLF) is to be used for the delivery of Abnormal Indivisible Loads (AILs) during the construction and operation of the awarding authority nuclear power plant. The delivery of AILs from overseas locations will help to secure and de-risk the construction program for the nuclear power plant itself and reduce construction traffic to the Main Construction Area (MCA).
The vessels used to deliver cargo to the BLF will arrive at high tide. At low tide the vessel will be supported in the constructed berthing cradle, at which time Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT’s) will move the cargo from the vessel to land. Vessels using the BLF and associated cradle berth will be either North Sea Barges or purpose-built Beach Landing Vessels (BLV’s).
The BLF construction works comprise of the following:
Piled abutment structure
150m long piled jetty consisting of two pile bents and concrete crossheads
Heavy duty removeable running deck on the jetty
90m x 31.5m piled berthing cradle structure
Associated berthing and mooring dolphins and access gangways for safe mooring
Berthing fenders and marine furniture
Dredged berth pocket around the berthing cradle structure

About the buyer’s selection process:
Sizewell C Limited, hereinafter referred to as SZC, is proposing to construct a 3.2-gigawatt nuclear power station in Suffolk (Sizewell C) to provide reliable low-carbon electricity.
The purpose of the CompeteFor platform is to allow suppliers to express interest in upcoming packages at SZC and where required provide information regarding certain minimum requirements to ensure that we identify those who are deemed to be competent to provide the Works/Services to register their interests. The supplier is provided opportunity within the supplier statement to highlight any mitigating circumstances and lessons learnt that may be required to be shared with SZC based on your answers to the mandatory questions.
If required we reserve the right to request further information with respect to the information provided within the supplier statements.
At its sole discretion, SZC reserves the right to utilise these supplier statements to amend the scoring to the mandatory questions if the organisation can appropriately demonstrate that they have implemented learning and appropriate mitigations.
