The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has awarded a £65M contract to Galliford Try, with Arcadis as a Technical Support Provider, to deliver 276 modern single-occupancy bedrooms at RAF Digby, Lincolnshire.
This investment will provide four new accommodation blocks for junior ranks, significantly improving living conditions while supporting the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) Net Zero strategy through carbon-efficient design.
Key features:
🏡 Four new blocks with 69 ensuite bedrooms per block
🍽 Kitchenettes, drying rooms, laundry rooms, and social spaces
🌞 Solar panels and air-source heat pumps for low-carbon heating
🚿 Heat recovery system to reuse waste water energy
💡 LED lighting & temperature-controlled heating zones for energy efficiency
⚡ Electric vehicle charging points
The contract also includes new parking, street lighting, and landscaped communal areas, with local suppliers and labour prioritised to boost the regional economy.

RAF Digby, established in 1918, is the RAF’s oldest station and now operates under UK Strategic Command. This project aligns with the MOD’s commitment to enhancing military accommodation while reducing its carbon footprint.
Construction begins in March, marking a new chapter for RAF Digby personnel.
