Plans for a new 566-bed student accommodation complex on the outskirts of Liverpool city centre are on the verge of securing the go-ahead.Liverpool City Council’s planning committee will convene to discuss a full planning application by Anwyl Construction to build a 16-storey and a ten-storey block connected by an interlinking glazed block on Tuesday (11 October 2016). The proposal involves creating 566 student beds, comprising 88 clusters and 94 studios, along with ground-floor communal facilities such as a gym, a dining area, a games room, a laundry and an office/reception area.The site earmarked for regeneration occupies a prominent position on the corner of Norton Street and Islington to the east of the Cultural Quarter. It was previously used as a National Express coach station for a number of years but was vacated in 2015.
