A scheme to improve coastal defences in Kinmel Bay has taken a step forward.Conwy Council’s planning committee was minded to grant conditional planning permission for the project. This is subject to matters in outstanding consultation responses being resolved to the satisfaction of the development and building control manager.Members also resolved to authorise the development and building control manager to consider outstanding consultation responses and to determine the application under delegation.The Kinmel Bay Coastal Defence Improvements Scheme includes improved rock armour defences, raising seawalls, improved beach access, new parklets, street furniture and toilet block, car park upgrades and ecological enhancement.The construction works for the coastal defences are expected to take just over 12 months in total.It is expected that the total construction period, including car parks, structures, public realm works and demobilisation of the site compounds, will take around 16 months.
