A new £3 billion fund to help build more than 225,000 new homes has been announced by the Government because “quite simply, we’re not building enough,” chancellor Philip Hammond told the Conservative Party conference.In an effort to tackle the housing crisis, communities secretary Sajid Javid says the Home Builders Fund will provide £1 billion of short-term loan funding for small builders, while a further £2 billion investment will accelerate construction on public land.And the creation of the dedicated fund to help SME housebuilders to deliver 25,500 homes by 2020 has been welcomed by the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).
