A defence authority has invited a tender for 4 refurbished main engines to propel survey vessels.
The main engines will be used to propel survey vessels. The engines are intended to replace the ship’s existing engine (model: ES8 MK I), originally manufactured by Mirrlees Blackstone (Stamford) Ltd.
No modification of the ship’s hull and structure will be considered and the ship’s existing gear box and shaft line must be kept intact. The proposed engine should be configured with the existing engine and machinery control system of the ship.
The new engines along with their accessories will be accommodated in the existing ship’s engine room and compartments. The engine and propulsion system must be independent and operated safely.
The cost of the tender document is £50.
