Frazer-Nash has been appointed by Defence Equipment and Support’s (DE&S) Ships Operating Centre to help improve assurance and support for the delivery of ‘Safe to Operate’ Royal Navy equipment and platforms to the Ministry of Defence.
The Ships Operating Centre is at the forefront of the provision of equipment to ships and submarines. Its role is to ensure equipment is safe to operate within current and future operational envelopes, while meeting availability requirements for the fleet. This programme of work, known as Project SALUS, will improve safety and environmental protection arrangements through the development and update of technical evidence and processes that underpin associated risk to life safety and environmental protection arguments.
To deliver this work Frazer-Nash will be supported by a number of key sub-contractors: BMT Cadence, BMT DSL and Survivability Consulting Limited (SCL). The project is one of the company’s largest projects to date.
Frazer-Nash’s Senior Business Manager Surface Ships, Paul Havron, said:“Frazer-Nash will be responsible for undertaking a wide-ranging safety and environmental protection technical programme of work reviewing and updating existing evidence and capturing and developing new documentation on behalf of the client.
“At the end of the programme, the customer will have the processes, tools and technical evidence to support their claim of substantial assurance against the regulatory requirements and will ensure that Ships Operating Centre is able to share good practice within DE&S into the future.”
