Vision
To create a world leading UK Space Academy that offers cutting edge space training and education for Defence, UK Space Sector, and our international partners.
Concept
To establish a physical training facility at a location that is easily accessible to Defence, other government departments, academia, industry, and international partners. The training facility infrastructure would need to be managed and maintained by a partner and must include a range of classrooms accredited to deliver material classified from Official-Sensitive, SECRET to Above SECRET. The training facility design would also need to include collaborative working areas, rest areas with access to refreshments, and an office space for its trainers to work from when not teaching. We also require real-life support for the trainers and students attending courses. This would require single living and family accommodation located within a short travelling distance to the training facility. As part of the real-life support package, access to catering facilities would be required to provide meals throughout the day to include breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as access to a physical training facility such as a gymnasium, also within a short travelling distance from the accommodation area. There is no requirement to provide trainers or deliver any space training at this stage; the courses delivered at the Academy will be space courses that are currently being delivered by Defence. The intent is to set up an initial contract for a 5-year period, which has funding allocated up to c£5M for this period. Our intent is to grow the Academy over the medium to longer term. In the short to medium term there may additional requirements such as course design/development, academic delivery/support, course assurance activities such as validation and audit, course administration and additional trainers.
