II.1.4) Short Description: In an effort to strengthen the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and enhance the integrity of judiciary and law enforcement, the European Union to BiH assists in improving the capacities for the execution of criminal sanctions. Through IPA 2017 and 2019, funds are provided to advance the suitability of the Detention Unit of the Sarajevo Correctional Facility by building a new complex. This action shall allow the relocation from the current building in the city centre, to a new location. The preparation of the preliminary design for the new prison complex was supported by EU and the preparation of the Main Design was funded by Federal Ministry of Justice. The construction and the supervision of the works will be funded by the EU. The new complex will comprise 4 buildings, namely entrance control, accommodation, administration, and service facility and will accommodate 150 male inmates in a total gross building area of 4 375 m2.
