Watkin Jones has received planning permission for a £17m redevelopment of Northumbria Police’s old headquarters in Newcastle city centre.The old police station in Market Street is being converted to student accommodation. The 10-storey building will have 48 studios and 177 bedrooms to house a total of 225 students.Watkin Jones, a specialist developer/builder of student housing, expects to complete the development in 2018.
