A long-awaited housing development in Pendle is finally set to go ahead after council bosses agreed to provide credit totalling £1.5million to secure a government regeneration grant.Land off Clitheroe Road in Brierfield has been earmarked for redevelopment for a number of years, following the demolition of old terraced blocks between Veevers Street and Berkeley Street. One enduring hitch, signing deals with a handful of outstanding remaining householders in Berkeley Street, was eventually resolved, after protracted negotiations took place. This prompted Pendle Council to lodge a bid with the Homes and Communities Agency, under the Builders Finance Fund, to kickstart the development process, via a significant loan.
