Summary of Requirements / Description of Work: Disposal of radioactive waste. MOD has up to 110m3 of Ion-exchange resins stored at several sites in the UK which are waste residue from the Nuclear Submarine Programme and are contaminated with radioactive material and organic complexion agents. MOD now wishes to achieve timely final disposal to the UK Low Level Waste Repository. The resins will require conditioning in order to meet LLWR acceptance criteria.

After running a two-stage trials programme, the next phase is to select the final winning bidder who will implement their technology on bulk resins, meeting LLWR acceptance criteria before final disposal.
