Engineering consultancy Rolton Group has been appointed to work on a new build development at thecentre:MK shopping centre in Milton Keynes.Rolton’s Peterborough team will provide mechanical and electrical performance design services for the construction of a new multi-storey car park at the shopping centre.Located on the site of the current surface level parking facility on Marlborough Street, the new car park will offer over 1,400 new car parking spaces over four levels, with a visitor-friendly pay on departure system.Rolton Group engineers will have responsibilities ranging from utility searches, incoming utility supplies, LV distribution, electrical lighting installations, small power, CCTV, car park barriers and ticketing systems, fire detection and alarm, lightning protection and cold water services.The new development aims to address parking issues raised by residents and visitors, boosting the shopping and leisure core of the city as well as supporting the nearby Cultural Quarter.The project builds upon the existing relationship between centre:MK and Rolton Group, who currently working together on a multi-million pound refresh project of the shopping centre.
