Developers are hoping to build a number of industrial units and almost 100 homes in Lea Green – a development which council bosses describe as an “important milestone” in St Helens’ regeneration.Commercial property business Network Space has submitted a bid to St Helens Council for industrial workspace totalling 90,000sqft at the 21-acre Mere Grange site, alongside an application for 98 houses.St Helens Council leader Barrie Grunewald is backing the plans, saying the development would create around 400 jobs and bring £13.5million in investment to the area, which already features a first phase of office development constructed in 2008. The new workspace units range in size from 17,500sqft and 25,000sqft and complement the mixed use of the site which is located just off Junction 7 of the M62.
