The University of Sheffield has secured European funding worth £4m to progress the next phase of a new facility which could generate up to £700m for the city region.The 10,750 sq ft Royce Translational Centre will be built next to the university’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre’s (AMRC) Factory 2050.It will support the transformation of the advanced manufacturing process and supply, offering manufacturers the opportunity to adopt next generation technology to produce and process metal powders.The centre forms part of the national £235m Sir Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials, announced by the government in 2014.However, the £4m funding approval from the European Regional Development Fund now gives the University of Sheffield the green light to press on with the scheme.
